Charli XCX Kicks Off Tour With Live Debuts And Shows Collab

Charli XCX began her 'Music, Fashion, Film' tour at Philadelphia's Xfinity Mobile Arena last night. The show featured the live debut of the track 'Persona' and a rare performance of her 2011 major-label single 'Stay Away.'

Charli had previously debuted songs from the album at surprise shows in Brooklyn and Nashville earlier this summer. On social media, the artist said performing 'Stay Away' made her emotional, noting, "this song came out in 2011. I was a baby."

Tour Collaborations and Vibe

The Philadelphia concert also included a special guest appearance. Charli brought out tour opener Shows to perform that artist's song 'Do It.' Shows had to cancel her own planned shows to join the tour. Charli has described the overall vibe for this concert series as "50% party, 50% existential crisis."

Limited 2027 European Tour Announced

On Thursday, Charli XCX announced a series of UK and Europe shows for 2027 with support from Audrey Hobert. The tour will not include many dates. Charli addressed fan disappointment directly in her Instagram comments.

She wrote that touring is "really emotionally and physically hard" for her and that she has to "honor my truth as an artist." Charli stated she has respect for artists who can handle intense touring but clarified she is not one of them. She explained this reasoning also applied to the shorter North American run. Pre-sale tickets for the 2027 shows go on sale this Wednesday.
