Powderfinger Expands 2027 Reunion Tour After Sell-Out
Powderfinger adds nine new shows to their 2027 reunion tour, dubbed The Encore Run, after the initial 26-date trek sold over 300,000 tickets in days.

Powderfinger has added nine new shows to their 2027 reunion tour, branded The Encore Run, after earlier dates sold out quickly. The initial 26-show national trek sold over 300,000 tickets in less than a week, prompting the expansion to 35 dates across November and December 2027.
Frontman Bernard Fanning said the band felt compelled to respond after seeing how many fans missed out. This will be the band's first major national tour in 17 years, since their 2010 farewell run. The tour will extend into December, with the final shows at Brisbane Showgrounds on December 10 and 11.

Band History
Powderfinger's classic lineup reunites for the tour. It consists of Bernard Fanning on vocals, Ian Haug and Darren Middleton on guitars, John 'JC' Collins on bass, and Jon Coghill on drums. The band, formed in Brisbane, produced five consecutive ARIA No. 1 albums and won 18 ARIA Awards.
Reunion Context
The reunion is one of the biggest Australian music events of 2027. The band kept plans quiet for about 18 months before confirming. Their children, who were too young to see the band in its earlier years, were a major catalyst for getting back together. Cold Chisel’s anniversary shows influenced the decision to adopt an outdoor, stadium-scale format.
Rehearsals are set to begin in December. The band has ruled out recording a new album for now, citing advice from Jimmy Barnes. The tour partners with Mission Australia to raise awareness and funds for homelessness. Ticket limits are capped at eight per show, with all-ages entry requiring under-18s to be accompanied by a ticketed adult. Fans from Tasmania and the ACT who bought tickets to other cities can apply for refunds.
Presales for the new shows start at 10 am on November 4, with general public tickets on sale from 11 am local time on November 5. Bernard Fanning expressed the band's anticipation, saying, "Thank you for keeping the faith and for being so patient. We can't wait to see you out there."
