Geordie Greep has canceled his US tour after a woman alleged he kissed her without consent while she was passed out...

Geordie Greep kissed a woman on the lips without her consent while she was passed out from drinking at a friend's apartment after his Vancouver show. The solo artist and former Black Midi member has since canceled the remainder of his US tour following the allegations using the pseudonym Laura, and his former touring keyboardist Cameron Campbell.

Laura says she and a friend met Greep and Campbell at a bar after his October 8 performance at The Pearl in Vancouver. After the bar closed, the group went to the apartment of another friend they had met, Katherine. During the walk, Laura and her friend Christina told Campbell they were uncomfortable with Greep’s inappropriate comments about homeless people and topics of race and gender. At the apartment, Laura fell asleep on a couch around 5 a.m. She says she woke up to Greep kissing her on the lips and trying to make out with her, prompting her to push him off. "I was not raped. I was sexually assaulted, and [it was] more than a kiss taken the wrong way," Laura said.

Her friends and Campbell rushed into the room after hearing her scream. Campbell saw Laura yelling at Greep and asking him to get off her. He confronted Greep, asking what he had done, and Laura confirmed Greep had kissed her while she was asleep. The group kicked Greep out of the apartment. He returned minutes later, claiming to be looking for his phone, and was told to leave again. Campbell states that outside the door, "He tried to start downplaying it right there, saying that he only tried to give her a kiss on the cheek." Campbell saw Laura crying and visibly shaken. Greep went down in the elevator and tried to get Campbell to come with him, but Campbell refused, staying to ensure Laura’s safety.

Greep’s response and the fallout at the Vancouver show

Before Greep’s next scheduled performance, a man handed out flyers outside The Pearl accusing the musician of rape, referencing the events of October 8. Laura states this was done by a male acquaintance without her consent. The show was delayed by an hour and 40 minutes. Greep eventually addressed the crowd, performing without his backing band. He described the incident as a misunderstanding. It ended up in a situation where, really late at a house party, I got the wrong end of the stick with someone that was there, Greep told the audience. I made a move, and it didn't come off, and I really quickly, of course, apologized.

His tour manager informed the rest of the band about the incident, and they confronted Greep, telling him his behavior was completely unacceptable. Following the Vancouver show, the remaining North American tour dates were canceled. The canceled shows were in Boulder, Boise, Denver, and Salt Lake City, with venues emailing fans to confirm refunds.

Bandmate’s account and decision to quit

Cameron Campbell, the touring keyboardist, corroborated Laura’s account. He says he immediately decided to quit Greep’s band after the incident and made plans to return home. Campbell did not hear about the accusatory flyers until he was in an Uber on his way to the airport. He later confirmed his departure to a fan on October 12 via a screenshot shared on the Black Midi subreddit.
