Jhené Aiko has scored her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200. Her new project, Westside Whimsy, debuted atop the chart dated September 26, 2026, with 74,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending September 17, according to data from Luminate.
The release is the first R&B album by a woman to lead the chart in 2026. The last R&B set by a woman to hold the top spot was SZA's SOS, which concluded a 13-week run at No. 1 in May 2025. The only other R&B album to reach No. 1 this year was Bruno Mars' The Romantic in March.
Westside Whimsy was released on September 11 after being announced just three days prior. The album features collaborations with Ab-Soul, Larry June, Kendrick Lamar, Ohma, and Tyga.

Aiko's Chart History
This achievement marks a milestone in Aiko's long chart history. Westside Whimsy is her sixth top 10 album on the Billboard 200. Her first chart entry, Sail Out, debuted and peaked at No. 8 in November 2013.
Her previous full-length studio album, 2020's Chilombo, debuted at No. 2 and later received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. According to Billboard, Aiko is the second act in 2026 to wait at least a decade from a chart debut to a first No. 1. She waited 12 years and 10 months between Sail Out and Westside Whimsy.
Earlier this year, metal band Megadeth achieved its first No. 1 nearly 40 years after its chart debut. The last woman to wait longer for a first leader was Solange, with a gap of 13 years and eight months.
A Quiet Top 10
The rest of the top 10 saw minimal movement, with Westside Whimsy as the only new entry in the region. Positions two through eight were all held by former No. 1 albums experiencing slight declines.
Ella Langley's Dandelion fell to No. 2 with just over 60,000 units. Olivia Rodrigo's you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love dipped to No. 3, also with about 60,000 units. Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem slid to No. 4 with 57,000 units.
Noah Kahan's The Great Divide held at No. 5 with 46,000 units. Drake's ICEMAN rose to No. 6 with 35,000 units. Ariana Grande's petal slipped to No. 7 with 34,000 units, and Rod Wave's Don't Look Down fell to No. 8 with nearly 34,000 units.
Olivia Dean's The Art of Loving climbed to No. 9 with 33,000 units. Kahan's Stick Season rounded out the top 10, rising to the spot with nearly 33,000 units. The full chart will be posted on Billboard's website on September 23, a day later than usual due to the Yom Kippur holiday.
