Symphonic Integrates MassiveMusic Audio for Smoother Label

Symphonic has integrated audio delivery from MassiveMusic into its TransferTrack catalog migration technology. The partnership, announced on September 16, is designed to remove the need for labels to manually upload audio files when moving their catalogs to Symphonic's platform.
According to the company, this collaboration allows Symphonic to pull audio files and standardized metadata directly from MassiveMusic's systems when a label transfers its releases. For labels and artists whose catalogs are already stored with MassiveMusic, this eliminates the step of tracking down and uploading their own audio files. The audio is supplied as FLAC files alongside normalized, DDEX-compliant metadata that includes ISRC codes.
How TransferTrack Works
Symphonic first announced its patented TransferTrack tool in February 2024. The technology allows clients to bulk-import eligible releases into the SymphonicMS platform using only a Spotify artist page or release link. The tool is intended to cut down on manual metadata re-entry, consolidate analytics, and help clients retain their streaming history and playlist placements where releases are correctly linked by digital services.
Until this new integration, clients still had to manually upload the underlying audio files and other assets before a transferred release could be submitted for distribution. With MassiveMusic's systems now supplying the audio, Symphonic says content arrives pre-structured and ready for distribution, where the incoming label's catalog is already within MassiveMusic's infrastructure.
The Strategic Rationale
Jorge Brea, CEO of Symphonic, framed the move as part of a broader mission. "TransferTrack was built to give independent labels more freedom to choose the distribution relationship that best supports their business," Brea said. "MassiveMusic's audio delivery capabilities allow us to take that vision further and create a smoother path into Symphonic."
He added that this direction is a priority for investment. This is exactly where we want to keep investing: technology that removes operational barriers and gives our clients greater control over their catalogs.
James Priestley, SVP Global Sales, Licensing and Technology Solutions at MassiveMusic, emphasized the scale of his company's catalog. Much of the music that labels need to move is already in MassiveMusic's 180m-track global catalog, Priestley stated. Our modular platform allows the streamlining of many backend processes across the music industry, so working with Symphonic was a no-brainer.
Broader Context and Recent Moves
The integration is the latest in a series of developments for Symphonic. The company, founded in 2006 by music producer Jorge Brea, raised $37 million in a January 2022 Series B round. Its recent partnerships and acquisitions include:
| Partner/Initiative | Month/Year | Nature of Deal |
|---|---|---|
| Deal with EVEN | November 2025 | Direct-to-fan platform partnership |
| Partnership with SourceAudio | February 2026 | Opt-in marketplace for AI training data |
| Acquisition of Distro Nation | March 2026 | YouTube monetization platform |
| Launch of Symphonic NEXT | April 2026 | Catalog financing and acquisitions program |
| Partnership with Sureel AI | July 2026 | AI attribution tracking for Symphonic clients |
| Deal with ArtyShield | August 2026 | Tools to shield recordings from unauthorized AI use |
Symphonic's NEXT program, according to Brea, represents access to over $100 million in capital. The company's roster and alumni include artists like Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Marshmello, and Imogen Heap.
MassiveMusic is owned by Songtradr, which acquired the creative music agency in 2021. In June 2025, Songtradr consolidated several key B2B businesses under the MassiveMusic name, including 7digital's distribution services, Big Sync Music, Musicube, and Resonance Sonic Branding. Songtradr had acquired UK-based 7digital in a $23.4 million cash deal in 2023.
The initial February 2024 rollout of TransferTrack also introduced SplitShare, a royalty splits tool, alongside features called Enhanced Recoupments and a new Marketing Drivers process. Symphonic describes itself as a 100% independent company.
