Meta's Muse AI Agent Integrates With Spotify for Voice

Meta's Muse AI agent now integrates with Spotify for voice-controlled music and playlist management. Spotify detailed the integration in a blog post on September 23, allowing users to play audio, save songs, and build playlists through conversation with the AI.

Users can ask Muse to resume a podcast or play a saved playlist on a connected kitchen speaker. The agent can also create a Personal Podcast from a user's daily briefings, notes, and ideas, saving the audio directly to their Spotify Library. Spotify gave a specific example: a user can ask Muse to build a driving playlist inspired by a road trip destination and schedule it to start at their departure time.

Availability and platform support

Muse launched in the United States on September 8, 2026. It is available on iOS, Android, and the muse.ai website, with conversations also accessible within WhatsApp. A dedicated Mac version arrived on September 17, and the service expanded to Canada on September 18.

The initial release is for adults aged 18 and over. This age restriction confines the Spotify-Muse integration to users in the US and Canada for the time being.

Technical implementation and security

The integration requires explicit user consent. Muse operates inside Meta's dedicated 'Muse Secure VM' virtual machine environment. The company states users choose which apps Muse connects to and the level of access granted.

Muse checks with the user before performing sensitive actions like sending an email or making a purchase. Meta said the agent has no visibility into users’ passwords or payment methods, and any shared credentials are placed into secure storage.

Users can turn on connectors in Muse via Settings > Connectors or by asking the agent directly to connect an account. The AI is powered by a model named Muse Spark. Alexandr Wang is Meta's chief AI officer. At its launch, Meta described Muse as an agent that 'doesn’t just answer questions, it actually does the work.'

Spotify said the partnership offers new utility. "Enter Muse, Meta’s new personal agent." The collaboration illustrates Spotify's strategy to embed its service across emerging AI platforms. It ends with a practical vision: a user asking Muse to schedule a driving playlist based on a destination and a precise departure time.
