He shared the news in a recent interview with The Guardian, discussing his experience working with her on her album Lost Weekend. Broadrick said Bridgers reached out to him about contributing Jesu-style elements to the record. He initially doubted the request, thinking he might be scammed. He went on to play guitar on the tracks 'Bobby' and 'Best Dressed', the latter a hidden track on physical editions of the album.
When asked about working with Bridgers, Broadrick said her personable nature made the collaboration easy, though he felt overwhelmed by her stature in the music industry. He described sending music to Taylor Swift's personal engineer as a surreal experience that left him questioning how he ended up in such a mainstream context. Despite his surprise, he embraced the opportunity.
Broadrick then revealed that Bridgers had asked him to play guitar and bass on a song for an upcoming film. She told him she would continue to reach out for future work. The specific film has not been confirmed, though it may be related to Primetime, the Lance Oppenheim film in which Bridgers makes her acting debut, or possibly Invention 13 by Conor Oberst and Shawn Foree.
The Guardian interview also touched on Broadrick’s past work with Bridgers’ bandmate Julien Baker, noting he remixed Baker’s song 'Favor' in 2021 while Bridgers provided backing vocals. That earlier collaboration helped establish their creative rapport.
