Total Wife Announces Remix EP and Fall Tour

Nashville shoegaze duo Total Wife will release a new remix EP, come.back.down.x.recovery, on October 9 via the Julia's War label. The EP features four artists reworking tracks from the band's 2024 album come back down. According to a press release, the project originated from a data disaster. Member Luna Kupper said her hard drive failed, losing the original album files, half of their next album, and many other projects. She stated that after bringing it to a data recovery service, they received a flash drive with 25,000 unnamed WAV files. Kupper described the recovered files as a rotted screaming mass of digitally melted sounds, as if the hard drive did a harsh noise remix of itself.

The remixes were only possible after Kupper found a dusty old drive with half-finished versions of some come back down songs. Four tracks were salvageable. Kupper expressed gratitude to the remixers, saying they were brought so beautifully back to life by some of our favorite artists of all time.

Remix Contributors and Tracklist

The EP includes remixes from four of Total Wife's neo-shoegaze peers: their Julia's War label bosses They Are Gutting A Body Of Water, along with Winter, Scott Cortez of Lovesliescrushing and Astrobrite, and Full Body 2.

Lead Single and Sound

The lead single is Full Body 2's jittery, scrambled take on make it last. Total Wife's original tracks already sound like remixes of themselves, making a kind of glitched-out shoegaze that pulls in experimental electronic touches.

Tour Dates with Fcukers

Total Wife will support the release with a US tour alongside the band Fcukers. The tour includes five dates in September.
