GracieHorse Announces New Album Breaking And Entering

GracieHorse will release her new album, Breaking And Entering, on January 29 through Wharf Cat Records. The Los Angeles-based indie and country singer-songwriter recorded the project with producer Chris Cohen.

According to a press release reported by Stereogum, GracieHorse completed the album during the late stages of a difficult pregnancy. She nearly abandoned the entire project after accidentally deleting several years' worth of demo recordings.

The Lead Single

The album's opener and first single is titled "5 Card Stud." GracieHorse describes the track as a smoky country-rocker. In a statement, she said the song was "inspired by my friends who play poker."

"I think their lingo has a good lyrical quality that makes a good song," she said. "It's basically about good luck and what people attribute their luck to." She mentioned a lucky hand root given to her by a friend, which she kept in her studio during the making of the record.

Album Personnel and Background

Breaking And Entering features a roster of notable collaborators. GracieHorse and producer Chris Cohen both play guitar on the record. The lineup includes bassist Emily Elhaj, who has worked with Angel Olsen, and drummer Dylan Hadley of White Fence.

Piano is handled by Tyler Cash. Tim Ramsey and Connor "Catfish" Gallagher contribute pedal steel. This marks the second album from GracieHorse, following 2023's L.A. Shit.

Gracie Jackson, the artist behind the GracieHorse moniker, was previously the frontperson for the Boston fuzz-rock band Fat Creeps. She also made a guest appearance on Tears On The Beach, the 2024 album by Survivor finalist and former Guerilla Toss member Ben Katzman.
