Will Ferrell's Son Nominated for Best New Artist at the VMAs
Magnus Ferrell, the son of actor Will Ferrell, has been nominated for Best New Artist at the upcoming VMAs alongside other emerging musicians.

The nominations for this year's VMAs have been announced, with Madonna leading the pack with 11 nods. The awards show is set to take place next month, and the most interesting category is Best New Artist. Among the seven nominees is an unexpected name: Magnus Ferrell, the son of actor Will Ferrell.
Magnus Ferrell's nomination is largely due to the viral success of his song "Asleep Talking," which was played on Michelle Obama's podcast earlier this year. The song has been described as hacky and forgettable alternative R&B, similar to the music of fellow nominee Malcolm Todd. Other nominees in the category include Orlando-based indie-pop artist Bella Kay, South Korean boy band CORTIS, British singer Myles Smith, English singer-songwriter Sienna Spiro, and viral "Boston" singer Stella Lefty, whose father is a multi-billionaire and the CEO of Tempus AI.
The 2026 MTV VMAs will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 27 on CBS. The show will also simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S., with international availability on Paramount+ and MTV the following day.
